Farecast

I chose to explore Farecast for #19 Exploring Web 2.0. Farecast is an online prediction site that lets you compare flights offered by some of the major online travel site like Expedia. I tried a few comparison flights to dream locations. Not only did I find some great flights, but Farecast recommended waiting because they predicted fares would decrease. A cool site that I'll bookmark for future use!

Farecast is a cool site, but the one thing I don't like about it is that it doesn't cover any of the discount carriers. I've found that a much better site to find airfare deals is www.airfarewatchdog.com. They manually search for the best fares across the airline's own websites as well as discount carriers like Southwest and Skybus. Unfortunately, Farecast and others do not cover any of these, so you never know if you're getting the best deal.
